A new research has shown that beer can stop your bones from going brittle. The study found that women who drink beer regularly have strong bones that means they are less likely to suffer from osteoporosis.
But, according to the journal Nature reports, wine does little to protect from osteoporosis.
High silicon levels in beer slows down the thinning that leads to fractures and boosts new bone formation and beer is also rich in phytoestrogens, which keep bones healthy, the researchers explained.
Bones are made up of a mesh of fibres, minerals, blood vessels and marrow, and healthy ones are denser with smaller spaces between the different parts.
The researchers interviewed 1700 healthy women with an average age of 48 about their drinking habits.
The interviewed women then underwent ultrasound scans, which showed the hand bones of beer drinkers to be

The recession is having some interesting effects on the nation and in particularly women.
Some are negative including the reduction of those taking regular health checks whilst others are more positive.
A recent survey carried out by the American Psychiatric Association shows that women are approaching life in a more back to basics way.
Instead of trips to the mall, the majority of those asked, were turning to religion or taking time to spend with friends and their family.
Although no questions were asked about changes in food or alcohol intake, it suggested that exercise and even music was being seen as the more common ways of stress relief.
A survey carried out by Gallup shows that more women are taking stricter measures to avoid unplanned pregnancies. The target group,

A recent study examined the likelihood of a person dying after having suffered a heart attack and found that women were far more likely to die within a month after a heart attack than men are. Though it is not fully clear why this is the case, the study suggested that the reasons may be twofold.
There are biological differences among men and women, which could go some way to explain this difference. The average age of a woman who has a heart attack is considerably higher than that of a man; also women are likelier to have other health problems, which is responsible for this.
However, there are other reasons why this happens: the study suggested that it is the treatment regimens that were likely responsible for the fact that more women die after a heart

The World Health Organization has reported that women’s health is being negatively impacted by urbanization and this is particularly true for poorer women.

Also it is women living in urban centers who are at twice the risk of contracting AIDS as their rural counterparts.
A combination of factors such as the global economic crisis and rising population in urban areas means problems such as overcrowding, the spread of infectious diseases, substandard housing facilities, issues relating to water and food safety, problems related to solid waste dispos

When most of us think of heart attacks and strokes the picture that immediately comes to mind is an overweight, balding, middle-aged man gripping his chest in appalling agony.
This is an image we have seen a thousand times in movies and TV shows. One image you don’t see is that of a woman gripping her chest in the same way as she has a heart attack.
That is because we have become accustomed to thinking of heart attacks as a male problem that does not really affect women. Hallmark TV movies of the week will depict a woman dying of cervical cancer or some other tear-jerking “women’s problem”.
In fact, cardiovascular diseases are the cause of over a third of all women’s deaths in the United States making it easily the biggest cause of premature death in American women.
Another fact is that “men grabbing their chest” im
